‘Let your light shine’ guides students during Sanborn Christian School Work-A-Thon
On Friday, October 29, Sanborn Christian students took a morning away from school and worked hard to serve the people of the community at their Work-A-Thon. The Work-A-Thon provided hands-on learning that not only shaped and challenged the students, but it also impacted people outside and around Sanborn by ministering directly to them.
The students also raised funds for Sanborn Christian by going door-to-door in the community leading up to the Work-A-Thon. However, Sanborn Christian noted that the biggest benefit derived from the Work-A-Thon is that it shows their students that giving of themselves leads to a loving and Christ-like environment.
Some of the activities carried out by the students that day were: raking, sweeping, pulling weeds, making treats to hand out, picking up sticks, picking up garbage, writing letters and drawing pictures to distribute, sidewalk chalk messages around town and helping pack lunches for the community backpack program.
As scripture record “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16).
