Spencer’s Parker House exhibit opens at Clay County Heritage
Clay County Heritage is excited to announce their next temporary exhibition called “Parker House: History of the First Floor” that will open to the public Wednesday, November 24 at the Clay County Heritage Center in Spencer. The exhibit showcases the story of the James E. Parker family with their living room furniture and pictures from the house. Other artifacts, like pianos and clothing, illustrate their lifestyle.
Thanks to grants from the Clay County Community Foundation and City of Spencer’s Renaissance Initiative Grant Program, the wood floors on the first floor of the Parker Museum are getting restored which required the removal of all items and furniture off the first floor. Many of these objects have been placed in storage, but some artifacts were curated to make this new exhibit.
Admission to the Clay County Heritage Center is always free thanks to a sponsorship from Spencer Hy-Vee. The Parker Museum will be closed for touring until further notice.
