Kenny Heitritter, son of Ken and Ellia Heitritter of Port Charlotte, FL graduated from the University of Iowa December 17 with a PhD in Physics. His grandmother, Delores Popma and Paul and Joyce Heitritter attended the ceremony along with his parents. Ken and Ellia flew to Iowa for the occasion. They were within minutes of their plane landing when they were informed that the plane couldn’t land because of the wind storm going through Iowa at the time. The plane returned to Florida safely. The Heitritters were able to take a later flight and were able to still attend the ceremony. Kenny has been hired as a professor at the university.
Robby and Laura Ballou and daughters Rebecca and Sarah of Boise, ID visited Charlotte Dasen last week Tuesday. They were called here by the death of Robby’s mother, Ruth Ballou. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at Sanborn Funeral Home.
Barney and Lindy Buren visited their son, James Carney at Denison over Christmas.
Madison Postma of Lantana, TX spent the week of Christmas in the home of her grandparents, Jim and Heidi Postma along with her father, Brandon, and brother Dylan Postma of Sanborn. She returned home to Texas on Sunday.
On Christmas Day the Tresslers entertained guests for dinner. Joining them were the Paulsons of Sheldon: Roger, Rae Lyn, Jade and Ethan, along with Gage Butler. Sid Harmonson and Jeff Gerritson also joined them.
Christmas Day guests of Linda Rozeboom were Mike, Danielle and Bryce Rozeboom of Sioux Falls, Donna and Don Olson of Sioux City, Cody Maranell of Ames, Bob Maranell, Rick Maranell and Kara Maranell and Taylor Block.
Christmas Day dinner guests in the Charlotte Dasen home were Jerry and Cathy Gray and Brian of Rochester, MN and Esther D’Agrosa of Boyden. Esther brought a delicious dinner. The Grays were overnight guests in the Dasen home.
Bobby and Connie Knowlton of Primghar brought dinner to enjoy with his mother, Sally Knowlton on Christmas Day. Barney and Lindy Buren stopped in to visit during the week. On Sunday David Amundson and Janie Slade of Canton, SD brought dinner to enjoy with Sally.
Hank and Mary Iedema celebrated Christmas Eve with many family members and friends. A soup and sandwich supper was served complete with lots of goodies.
On Christmas Day Hank and Mary Iedema were dinner guests in the home of Rick and Alisa Stanton at Sibley.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day guests in the Connie Ginger home were Pamela Prine, Tammy Ginger, Cristy Ginger and Heather, Caleb and Haley Malenke, Tommy Ginger and Carter, Craig Ginger, Rose Sogn, and Heath and Wendy Reitsma, Lacie, Luke and Bree.
Josh Brown of Sioux Falls, SD, who came Friday afternoon, and Joe Brown of Sanborn were supper guests in the home of their parents, Randy and Darla Brown. They attended the candlelight church service at the First Reformed Church and went back to the house to open gifts. Joe went home and returned the next day for Christmas dinner on Saturday. Josh and Joe both returned home Saturday afternoon.
Sunday guests in the Jack and Carol Elgersma home to celebrate Christmas were Stacey Eeten of Sioux Falls, SD, Alissa, Chloe, Taylen Eeten and Jase Holland of Buffalo Center, and Andy, Brandi, Maci, Jack and Kennedy Wright of Sanborn.
On Friday night all of Darleen Lode’s family were present to celebrate with her. They included Dave and Twyla Otis and family, Lee and Lisa Lode, D.J. and Dalton, Janet Lode and Dave Helms, Kara Maranell and friend Taylor, and Codi Maranell of Ames.
Thursday night Don and Jackie Van der Zee of South Holland MI arrived to spend Christmas in the home of her parents, Lee and Susie Van Tol. They returned home Sunday. Friday night after the Christian Reformed Church service additional guests in their home were Mike and Judy Visser, Gertie Visser, Troy and Tanya Bouma and sons of Pella, Justin and Mandy Hoekstra and family of Hull. They enjoyed opening gifts. On Sunday all but the Vander Zees were guests of Mike and Judy Visser.
Andrew Suckow of West Des Moines arrived last week Wednesday to spend Christmas in the Jim and Becky Suckow home. Amy Suckow of Minneapolis arrived Thursday. Friday evening supper guests were Andrew, Amy, and Donald Hakeman. Saturday noon additional guests were Jack and Carol Elgersma. Amy, Andrew and Don were Sunday dinner guests. Andrew returned home Sunday and Amy returned home Monday.
Scott Chrisman enjoyed Christmas Day dinner and gift exchange in the rural Sheldon home of the Gerry Chrismans.
Corky Camarigg was a Christmas Day dinner guest in the home of Ethan and Lexie Camarigg at Boyden. Additional guests were Dwayne and Libby Camarigg, and Elicia Camarigg of Sioux City.
Christmas Eve guests of Keith and Nancy Iverson were Brian, Betheny and Jenna Buren, Chase and Amber Vermeer and Huckson of Orange City, Brian and Shannon Letsche, Baden and fiance Megan, Kaylee, Kirsten, Crystal and Aaron of Marcus, Shane and Lenea Elgersma, Joey, Sam, Aubrey, and Marty of Otsega, MN. The Letsches and Elgersmas were overnight guests. The Burens joined them the next morning for brunch.
Christmas guests in the Randy Lyman home were their children: the Chad Lymans, the Kim and Swede Elkers of Lincoln, NE, and Morgan and Tanner of Harrisburg, SD.
Linda Rozeboom had lunch at Spencer Monday with her cousins, Dave and Carol Van Roekel of Spirit Lake.
