Hawk shooting woes allow Harris-Lake Park to steal a win
Harris-Lake Park scored a total of 20 points through three quarters of its game with Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn January 7 at Lake Park. They equaled that in the fourth quarter as the Wolves were able to defeat HMS 40-36. The Hawks were unable to get off the schneid in the War Eagle Conference, falling to 0-4. Their season record fell to 3-6. Meanwhile, the Wolves earned their fist victory since early 2019.
The HMS cause was hindered by 19 percent shooting. The Hawks had 74 shots at the hoop but came away with only 14 baskets. When isolating the three-point shooting they did better (29 percent) with five makes in 17 tries. The foul line was unkind to HMS with just three Hawk makes in 17 attempts.

Jasmine Lux is first to lay claim to this rebound which is also sought after by her HMS teammate Abby Douma. Harris-Lake Park’s Ava Rasche is out of the running.

Elise Haack hit three shots from beyond the arc and finished with 13 points. Jasmine Lux added six points, Gracie Knobloch and Kylee Schiphoff five apiece, Lydia Harders four, Emily Otto two and Abby Douma one.
HMS came down with 42 rebounds including 18 on the offensive end. The carom collectors included Lux with nine rebounds, Harders with eight, Emily Mutombo and Schiphoff with seven apiece, Haack with five, Douma with four and Otto with two. Haack and Harders each came away with three steals. The Hawks were guilty of 15 turnovers.
