Undefeated MMCRU tops Hawk girls
MMCRU kept its record unblemished with a 74-45 win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn January 25 at Marcus. The Royals built a 20-point halftime lead en route to their 15th victory of the season.
The host team enjoyed 54 percent shooting with 32 made field goals in 59 attempts. HMS was at just under 30 percent with 17 baskets in 57 tries. Each team launched 16 long range shots with seven hitting the mark for the Hawks and four for MMCRU. HMS was 4-of-6 at the free throw line and the Royals 6-of-10.
Gracie Knobloch drained half of her 10 three-point tries and finished with a team-high 17 points. She was followed by Jasmine Lux with 10 points, Lydia Harders with eight, Kylee Schiphoff with four and Elise Haack and Emily Mutombo each with three. Lux and Abby Douma each notched an assist. The Royals had four players score in double figures, led by Emily Dreckman with 19 points.
The Hawks’ 26 rebounds equaled the number collected by MMCRU. Lux and Harders each corralled seven caroms with Haack and Mutombo grabbing three apiece. Schiphoff recorded two steals. The Royals had nine turnovers while HMS committed 21.
