SHIIP Welcome to Medicare Seminar Cancellation
Out of an abundance of caution and care for the health of community members, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) has cancelled the upcoming Welcome to Medicare Seminar that was scheduled for February 15 at NCC.
Interested individuals may still access information about recent or upcoming enrollment in Medicare a number of ways. Medicare questions can be addressed by contacting your local SHIIP volunteer for an individual appointment. Local SHIIP offices contact numbers are:
Osceola County: 712-754-4611
Sioux County: 712-722-8309
Lyon County: 712-472-3333
O’Brien County: 712-957-5579
Additionally, a recorded Welcome to Medicare seminar is available online by going to www.shiip.gov. You may access the recoding by selecting the Medicare Seminar tab and clicking on the Welcome to Medicare link. (You may also access this presentation using the direct link: https://stateofiowa.seamlessdocs.com/f/wtmregistration)
In reference to the cancellation, Carol Brinkert, WTM seminar presenter, stated “The high rate of Influenza and Covid infections in the four-county area is the reason for the cancellation. An individual appointment or viewing the seminar online offer people a lower risk way to receive their Medicare information.”
What is SHIIP? The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is a free and objective health insurance counseling service of the State of Iowa Insurance Division. Many Iowans turn to trained SHIIP volunteer counselors to help save money and answer questions about their Medicare health care insurance options.
