There will be an organizational meeting at the town hall February 11 at 2 p.m. to plan a Senior Citizens Club or Rec Center for Sanborn…Everyone 50 years of age or older is welcome to attend the meeting.
The Westside Grocery has announced in their ad that they are closing out their entire stock at a discount. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Zorgdrager, owners said future plans are indefinite at this time.
Two Sanborn High School students have won honors in the state-wide Young Americans for the Civil Defense Essay Contest sponsored by the Iowa Civil Defense Directors Association…Ginny Muth, freshman, placed second statewide in the contest and Martha Thomas, senior, placed fourth.

From four to eight inches of snow fell across the area Monday night and Tuesday and the wind is blowing it into higher drifts. The winter of 1996-97 seems relentless in its fury…nine counties in northwest Iowa have been declared a disaster area by state officials.
Community Lenten Luncheon and Bible Study series begins February 1st with the first week at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church.
There were four tables of 500 Tuesday at Steve’s Coffee Shoppe. First went to Joyce Hulley.
The newly formed Crazy 8 Club met January 31 at the home of Elaine Olson. There were two tables of 500 with Elaine winning high.
