New Chamber Director steps down
Jennifer Van Dam has decided to resign as Chamber director. Jen accepted the postion as Chamber Director in October after long time Chamber director Sally Smith stepped down on August 11. Jen felt that she couldn’t give the time and attention the position really needed. Jen spoke to us about stepping down “The decision to step down was not an easy decision. I enjoyed working with the chamber and being part of this community. The reason I decided to step down was because I was unable to give it the time and energy for it. I would like to thank the chamber and community for the opportunity.”
Jen helps her dad manage the newly re-modeled Locomotive Lanes (the former Bowl-Mor).
The Chamber Board has decided to forgo filling a paid Chamber Director position for the time being. If not having a director doesn’t work out they will look at filling a director postion. The Chamber board is a full board of 10 members. It was felt that it is in the best interest of the members to allocate the funds for other purposes such as events, Railroad days, advertising, etc. Moving forward, each paid chamber business will be assigned a board member. This board member will be responsible for being your primary contact with questions, concerns, promotion ideas, event planning, etc.
The chamber wants to get back to their main focus which is promoting their members/community/businesses. They want focus on better serving our members and hope to add more value and benefit to our members over the coming year.
