Is it Opossum or Possum? held at Sanborn Public Library
O’Brien County Conservation Board held it’s Winter Library Series at the Sanborn Public Library on February 17th. The event was called Is it Opossum or Possum? Naturalist, Abbie Parker talked about the very misunderstood marsupial the Opossums and just how amazing of a creature they really are. She talked about where they live and how Opossums are Nature’s Pest Control & Trash Management. She shared they are Omnivores so they like to eat insects, rodents, berries, snails, grass, pretty much whatever they can find to eat they will. Opossums can eat up to 5,000 ticks per season and it very rare for opossums to carry rabies because they have a much lower body temperature compared to other warm-blooded animals.
