Mr. and Mrs. John Elgersma will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with open house at their home in Sanborn on Fri., February 25.
The 50 Plus Club has reported 136 visitors since they opened on February 15. There are now over 75 members.
Claude Smith is the recipient of a Golden Spike from Superintendent W. E. Peterson of the L.M. & O Division at Austin, MN in recognition of his many years of service on the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul and Pacific Railroad.
Nancy Crawford of Sanborn is student teaching at Reynolds School in Spencer. Nancy is a student at University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.

The Board of Education recognized the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn school district’s building secretaries, custodians and bus drivers for their patience, extra hours and diligence in transporting students, handling increased phone calls, and in cleaning sidewalks and parking lots. They were presented certificates from the Board on February 10.
The Knights of Columbus will hold their Third Annual Spelling Bee February 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s School in Sheldon. The Bee is open to students in grades 4-7.
Coral Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Sanborn, entertained officers and members of the Order from across the state to recognize Associate Grand Matron Marilyn Rozeboom’s Last School and Inspection Meeting.
