Northwest Iowa Community College students compete in local SkillsUSA competition

Students from Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) in Sheldon competed recently in the local SkillsUSA competition. There were levels for both high school and college students in the Auto & Light Duty Diesel category. The 1st Place winner in the high school competition was Riely Andringa of Sanborn.
Placing second at the high school level was Jackson Tormanen of Inwood while Braden Hindt of Sheldon was third.
Among the college competitors, 1st Place went to Dylan Meyer of Lake Park. Winning 2nd Place was Coleton Loerts of Early and 3rd Place went to Trent Anderson of Sioux Rapids.
These students qualified to compete at the 2022 Iowa State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference at DMACC in Ankeny on April 8, 2022.
SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom, and promote community service. SkillsUSA is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is also cited as a “successful model of employer-driven youth development training program” by the U.S. Department of Labor.
