On Thursday March 3, Heather Elgersma, Anna VanderVeen and Coach Brittany Dolphin all of HMS Dance Attack, left for Des Moines to begin a 3-day adventure of dancing! The girls were both chosen to dance with the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team at the Iowa Girls Basketball Championship games. This marks the third year in a row for Anna, a senior and the first time for Heather, a sophomore. Auditions were held last fall and dancers were chosen for the team based on ability, attitude, dedication and leadership qualities. Heather and Anna were two of 238 dancers from 92 Iowa high schools.
On Friday Tammy and Cristy Ginger traveled to Des Moines to watch Cristy’s daughter, Heather perform with the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team at Wells Fargo Arena. The group, joined by Anna VanderVeen and Brittany Dolphin, enjoyed a delicious supper before returning to their motels. On Saturday they were joined by Heather’s sister, Haley Malenke of Omaha, for a second performance. The girls all enjoyed supper with the Wendy Reitsma family Saturday night in Ankeny.
