On Saturday, April 9 Don Hakeman hosted members of his family. Visiting all day were Emily Ceas and Shaylea of Estherville. Visiting part of the day were Samantha Bruns of Spirit Lake, Allison Mercer of Spirit Lake, Stephanie Vander Plaats of Sheldon, and Carol Elgersma and Becky Suckow. Joining them for the evening were Jim Suckow, Jerry Vander Plaats and Jack Elgersma.
Sunday night was Game Night at St. John’s Lutheran Church with six people present to play games.
Sunday dinner guests in the Jim Suckow home were Don Hakeman and Jack and Carol Elgersma.
Last Friday Margaret Larsen of Worthington, MN came to visit in the home of her sister, Carol Salazar. They visited their brother Randy who resides at Prairie View. They later went shopping at Sheldon and enjoyed lunch together. They reported having a nice day.
Shirley Mulder was hostess for the Crazy Eight Card Club Friday afternoon at Jay’s Restaurant. After their lunch they played 500. Ardis Dummett won high score, Sandi Kleve was second and Ruth Klever low. Jean Snyder subbed for Ronda Pry.
Nick, Theresa and Bella Postma and their dog, Bolt, were guests in the Jim and Heidi Postma home over the weekend. Also present were Brandon and Dylan Postma. They celebrated Jim and Heidi’s 45th wedding anniversary and an early Easter.
Wade and Sherryl Tressler, along with Cat and Jeff Jensen, Dennis and Crystal Albrandt, Bernie and Terri Harms, Kim and Terry Remillard, Joy and Doug Popp, Laura Funk, Kya, Clara and Beau, met at Douma Park Saturday. They raked and cleaned up and hauled away 10 trailers full. This year’s winds had played havoc on the park. The park is ready to go for the 2022 camping season.
Linda Rozeboom, Rick Maranell, and Bob Maranell picked up Donna and Don Olson and Kara Maranell at Sioux City on Saturday to drive to Omaha, NE to attend the Celebration of Life for their brother and Uncle, Mike Maranell. Mike passed away on March 21.
Harriet Van Veldhuizen, Jeane Van Veldhuizen, and Nancy Van Dyke picked up Janet Brunsting of Hull, and Julie Johnson of Doon and went to Sioux Falls on Sunday for a “Girls Day Out.” They had a noon meal at the home of Shari Pyle and were joined by the Pyle girls: Abby, Leah and Anna; also Heather Brunsting and Diane and Katie McKee all of Sioux Falls. Birthday cake was enjoyed for the 21st birthday of Katie. In the afternoon they attended the “Church Basement Ladies” play at the Washington Pavilion and finished the day with an evening meal at an Italian restaurant.
