HMS conducts Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2022
The Graduation Ceremony for 36 Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn seniors was held Sunday at the High School Events Center in Hartley.
The HMS High School Band provided the prelude music of “Kentucky 1800” and then came the traditional playing of Elgar’s “Fanfare & Processional” as the graduates processed in. Welcoming everyone to the Commencement Exercises was Nathan Hemiller, high school Principal.
The senior speakers were Valedictorian Emily Heneman and Salutatorian Jasmine Lux.
This year’s Senior Slideshow was created by a member of the Class of 2022, Jesse Garcia.
The selection rendered by the Senior Choir was “It’s Time.”
The Rose Ceremony has become an annual part of the Commencement Exercises. Each of the graduates attending the program was given a rose to immediately present to parents/guardians.
The Seniors were presented by Superintendent Patrick Carlin. Principal Hemiller announced the Awarding of Diplomas, and the Diplomas were presented by HMS Board President, Scott Vollink. Hemiller made the Declaration of Graduates and the seniors were instructed to move their tassels from the right to the left side of their caps.
The band then played Elgar’s “Fanfare and Recessional” as the new graduates exited to meet their futures.
