Unity Christian hitting and pitching excel against Hawks
Unity Christian made short work of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, blitzing the Hawks 12-0 in just three innings June 10 at Orange City. The loss in the early afternoon game dropped HMS to 2-3 in the War Eagle Conference.
The Knights’ 14-hit assault on pitcher Kamryn Ebel included three doubles and a three-run home run. In contrast, the hitting woes continued for the Hawks. After being limited to one hit two nights earlier, HMS was no-hit through the three innings by Unity’s Paige DeBoom, who struck out six. The only baserunners were Abby Otto and Addison Sheeler who each drew walks.
“The bats didn’t show up today,” acknowledged Hawk head coach Stephanie Bronstad. “Unity hit Kamryn and hit well. Defensively, it was not our best game.”
All 12 of the Knights’ runs were earned. Ebel struck out four batters, walked three and hit three.
HMS 0 0 0 – 0
Unity 4 2 6 – 12
