On Sat., September 10, Carol Salazaar, Cindy McParlund, Jeannie Larson, and Susan Ortiz traveled to LaCrosse, WI to attend the Elvis Presley Explosion. They attended two of the shows of impersonators on Saturday and a church concert on Sunday morning. They sang all the gospel songs Elvis sang. The girls reported that the shows were fantastic and the singers were awesome. They returned home Sunday evening and reported lots of fun and memories made. Also joining them was Becky Monroe, a school friend, from Castalia.
The Crazy 8 card club met for lunch and played 500 at Jay’s Restaurant on Friday. Ardis Dummett was hostess. Linda Rozeboom scored high, Donna Fell second and Ruth Hanno low.
Joanne Andersen spent the weekend in Minneapolis, MN visiting her son Peter, who was hospitalized there.
Jim and Becky Suckow attended the Saturday wedding of Cody and Morgan Holz held at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church at Valley Springs, SD. Cody is a grandson of the Josh Holzes.
Kris Hakeman of Coral Springs, FL is visiting until Wednesday in the Jim and Becky Suckow home. She came especially to attend the Cody and Morgan Holz wedding.
The “Hakeman sisters” enjoyed a sisters’ get-together Sunday in the Jim and Becky Suckow home. They included Becky, Kris Hakeman, Carol Elgersma, Stephanie Vander Plaats of Sheldon and Allison Mercer of Spirit Lake. Also attending were Emily and Skyler Crees and Samantha Mercer of Spirit Lake and Jack Elgersma.
Don and Roberta Butson of Hampton came Monday and were overnight guests in the home of their friends, Jim and Becky Suckow.
On Labor Day weekend Keith and Nancy Iverson and Brent Elgersma visited the Brian Kroeses at Alvarado, MN. They returned home on Labor Day.
