The recent dry weather has allowed much of the corn crop to be harvested in the Sanborn area. “Corn yields are pretty good considering how dry we have been,” noted Ben Van Beek, agronomist at Farmers Coop Society’s Sanborn location. “Not as good as last year though,” he added. Two factors have affected the yields. “There is quite a bit of variability due to rainfall amounts and soil types,” said Van Beek. “Corn moisture has been 12 percent to 22 percent and yields have ranged from 150 to 220 bushels per acre.”
