Chamber Chat
Happy, Happy Fall y’all! 🙂 This is Wendy Nelson with this month’s Chamber Chat.
Looking ahead we have a couple of activities going on in town over the next couple of months I’d love to share with you.
First and foremost are the Halloween events! The first Halloween event will be on Saturday, October 29th. The Sanborn Parks & Rec will be hosting their “Creep the Campground” out at Miller Park from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Goblin goers may go camper to camper or tent to tent to collect goodies to eat. They are even offering one-night FREE camping to anyone wanting to camp out there that weekend. For more information call the city office at 930-3842.
The annual business trick-or-treating will be on Monday, October 31st from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Main Street businesses will be offering Halloween treats to all the goblins, spiderman’s, puppy dogs and princesses that show up to trick-or-treat. The businesses participating will have a pumpkin in their front window, so you will know which businesses to stop at and as for the businesses not on Main Street…they will be set up in the Community Building ready to spoil everyone’s supper with even more treats & goodies.
The best news ever this year is that Prairie View Campus will once again be hosting trick-or-treating this year after a 2 year COVID hiatus! The public is welcome to stop in the main door of the facility and head to the activity room where the residents will be ready to pass out some treats and maybe do a few tricks. 🙂 The time will be the same as the business trick-or-treating, 3:30-5:00 p.m.
If you or your business are not on Main Street and would like to set up a spot, come on down and use your trunk or set-up a booth in the community center. Following the business trick-or-treating will be the town trick-or-treating which will start at 5:00 p.m. and go until dusk. Lots of opportunities to get some treats and maybe do a few tricks. 🙂
The second event I would like to mention is the annual Fall Festival. Scheduled for Saturday, October 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m at Vander Haag’s Yesterday’s Memories Museum, the event is always a favorite of mine. FREE to the public we have over 15 vendors signed up to sell all their goodies and magical must-have’s along with the Mi’Ono ladies serving their delicious homemade goodness during the entire event. The Acai truck will also be on in the parking lot if you want to grab one of their bowls of happiness or take one on the way out. NEW this year is Ironwood Candle Company, an awesome experience to make your own candles! Vanilla, caramel, Cinnabon scent for me please.
On November 5th the Sanborn Christian School will be holding their annual Harvest Sale in the school’s gym. The children’s auction starts at 2:30 p.m. and the main auction starts at 4:00 p.m. Food will be served throughout the event and daycare will be available as well. It’s a great opportunity to help support the school and come home with a prize or two.
The Chamber will once again be coordinating a “Turkey Trot” during the month of November. If you can remember in the past, we will place a large ad in the Sanborn Pioneer with coupons to several chamber members for the chance to win various prizes. Look out for more details to come in the paper the first week of November and get ready to turkey trot around the town!
Finally, before I go…let’s talk Christmas time. Crazy to believe, but before you know it we will be flocking the trees and decking the halls for Christmas 2022. Mark your calendars for December 3rd for some awesome holiday events bound to get anyone excited for the holiday. More details to come.
Have a great week everyone and remember to shop local!
Wendy Nelson
