Maverick Lee Fedders, son of Hunter and Megan Fedders of Sioux City, was baptized Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with The Rev. Joseph Bangert officiating. Family present were his grandparents: Jeff and Cheryl Kroese, Matt and Julie Fedders of Le Mars; great-grandparents Peter and Evelyn Kroese, Roger and Peg Jacobs of Hartley, and Marv and Glenda Fedders of Le Mars. A dinner was served after the baptism in honor of Maverick, hosted by Jeff and Cheryl Kroese.
Shari Pyle of Sioux Falls, SD was an overnight guest Saturday at the home of her mother, Harriet Van Veldhuizen. After attending Sunday morning worship services they were noon dinner guests of Jeane Van Veldhuizen at Prairie View Manor.
Larry and Fran Peelen visited Fran’s cousins Melvin and Norma Reinholdt at the Gardens in Cherokee. Melvin celebrated his 97th birthday.
Jeff Dasen of Scottsdale, AZ arrived late last week Tuesday to visit for a couple weeks in the parental Charlotte Dasen home. Saturday visitors and dinner guests were Jerry and Cathy Gray and Brian Gray of Rochester. MN.
Kaitlynn and Amorie Lee Nesbitt from Georgia, Brett, Coy and Calan Weihe of Omaha, NE, and Pat Maranell of Papillion, NE, Matthew, Emily, Jud and Nora Rozeboom of Omaha, NE, and Danielle Rozeboom of Sioux Falls, SD visited Linda Rozeboom over the weekend.
Sunday evening visitors of Jose and Carol Salazar were grandson Eric Salazar and wife Keely, and grandson Alix Salazar of Rock Valley. They enjoyed supper with Jose and Carol and had a great visit.
John and Carla Caraconcea, Marilyn Anderson of Webb and Amy Ewert of Garner were guests in the Art Laubach home in Grinnell a week ago Sunday. They went to visit with Ronda who just finished chemo and has started radiation. Ronda had the misfortune to fall in her home and broke her arm.
A week ago Don and Pat Enger, her brother Glen Schueler of Primghar and sister Pauleen and Ambrose Peitemeier of West Point, NE visited cousins over that weekend at Dubuque.
Nancy Iverson spent from last week Wednesday to Saturday in the home of her son, Shane and Lanea Elgersma at Otsego, MN helping care for her grandchildren.
Larry and Fran Peelen attended their granddaughter’s volleyball game held in Omaha. The following day they took the long way home to see the beautiful fall colors. They discovered a new place to eat in Denison: The Bake Shop. The Peelens report that their cranberry bread sandwich was delicious, as were their homemade cookies and desserts.
Locals Omitted Last Week
Shawn McReynolds of Webb City, MO visited all of last week in the Randy and Candice Lyman home. Kim Eliker and son Ryker of Lincoln, NE visited Thursday through Tuesday. Ryker was on fall break from preschool. Morgan Lyman and fiance Tanner of Harrisburg, SD visited Thursday and Friday. Chad, Rhonda and Jayden Lyman also visited in their home.
Harriet Van Veldhuizen attended the funeral service of her sister-in-law, Evie Blankers at Edgerton, MN on Saturday morning. Harriet’s sister-in-law, Marilynn DeBoer of Sibley accompanied her and they also took Jeane Van Veldhuizen to visit her sister, Betty Engeltjes at the Edgerton Care Center. On the way home they stopped at Leota, MN to visit Harriet’s cousin, Faith and Marlyn Groen. They also stopped at the ladies’ niece, Norma and Dave Schutte at Rushmore, MN. When Jeane and Harriet returned to Sanborn they were joined at Prairie View Manor for a “coffee visit” by Shari Pyle of Sioux Falls, SD and Donna and Kim Farrell.
The Crazy 8 500 Club met Friday at Jay’s Restaurant for lunch followed by cards. Gayle Vander Woude won high, Jean Snyder second, and Ronda Pry was low. Jean Snyder and Charlotte Vierhout were subs.
Saturday supper guests in the Jim and Becky Suckow home were Jack and Carol Elgersma. Sunday supper guests were Shawn and CJ Schroeder.
Carol Salazar visited with Charlotte Dasen last week Wednesday.
Alivia AnnRae Vermeer, daughter of Chase and Amber Vermeer, was baptized Sunday, Oct. 16 at First Reformed Church in Orange City. Officiating was The Rev. Tim Breen. Special guests were great-grandpa and grandma Vermeer, grandfather Bonestroo, grandfather Jack Elgersma, grandpa and grandma Keith and Nancy Iverson, grandpa and grandma Vermeer and grandpa and grandma Buren. Lunch was served after the service in honor of Alivia.
Mike Rozeboom of Sioux Falls visited his mother, Linda Rozeboom Saturday afternoon.
