Sanborn City Council Minutes and Claims
The Sanborn City Council met in open session Monday, January 9th, 2023 in the Donald Kroese Council Chambers. Mayor Randy Lyman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the following Council present: Brian Visser, Aaron Wiekamp, Tim Devitt, Larry Reitsma, and Jerry Back. Others present: Adam Roelfs, Amber Rogers, and Jim Zeutenhorst.
Motion Back, seconded by Reitsma to approve the agenda. Roll call was taken.

A motion was made by Devitt and seconded by Visser to approve the consent agenda. The following consent agenda items were approved: a. Approve Minutes of the December 12th, 2022 meeting b. Approve January 2023 Bills c. Resolution #2023-01 “A RESOLUTION NAMING THE OFFICIAL CITY NEWSPAPER, OFFICIAL CITY DEPOSITORIES, AND DIRECTING PAYMENT OF CERTAIN RECURRING BILLS” d. Resolution #2023-02 “A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CITY OFFICIALS, BOARDS, AND COMMITTEES FOR 2023” e. Resolution #2023-03 “A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AMENDMENT OF NATURAL GAS SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH CLAYTON ENGERY CORPORATION FOR NATURAL GAS SUPPLY AND RELATED SERVICES” f. Approve A. Motion Back, seconded by Visser to approve Resolution #2023-04 “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANBORN APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF HARTLEY FOR POLICE PROTECTION SERVICES” and moved the same be adopted. Roll call was taken. Motion carried.

Zeutenhorst led the Council through a discussion on potential Capital Improvements in the next Fiscal Year including:

Motion Devitt, seconded by Back to set a date for a public hearing on the FY23-24 Proposed Property Tax Levy. The Public Hearing will take place on Monday, February 13th, 2023, at City Hall. Roll call was taken.

Zeutenhorst informed the Council that two interviews have been conducted for the Chief of Police position, with a third interview scheduled. There is also full-time certified officer that would potentially be interested in joining the Sanborn Police Department.
Rogers informed the Council that three interviews were scheduled for the Deputy City Clerk position, with the potential of adding two more to the interview schedule.
Under new business, the Council discussed the need for sending out sidewalk snow removal violation letters.
There being no further business to come before the board, Motion Devitt, seconded by Back to adjourn at 6:40 p.m. The next regularly scheduled Council meeting will take place on Monday, February 13th at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Roll call was taken.
