Ebel joins HMS 1000 Point Club
Kooper Ebel scored his 1000th point as a Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn varsity basketball player during the Hawks’ game with West Sioux on January 20. He joins fellow senior Lance Berends, who reached the milestone a year ago and now is over 1450 points and counting. The former players in the HMS 1000 Point Club are Jon Walburg (1584 points), Blake Simons (1510), Josh Ahrenstorff (1195) and Tyler Mohr (1056). On January 23, prior to the Hawks’ home game with MMCRU, Ebel was presented with a commemorative basketball noting the achievement.
“What a milestone and accomplishment for Kooper,” exclaimed HMS head coach Naet Hoaglund. “I couldn’t be more proud of the effort in which he plays and who he is as a teammate and person. As a coach, you want your best players to also be the hardest working. Kooper demonstrates that every day in everything he does. We see the highlight plays of him on the football field and basketball court and that’s all good and well, but it’s all of his hard work behind the scenes that really make those plays happen. The time in the weight room, getting extra shots up, running sprints, never taking a rep off – those are the things that make Kooper what he is and what happens on the court and on the field possible. It’s just an incredible accomplishment for him and I couldn’t be happier.”
