High-powered Hinton rolls past Hawk girls
Hinton scored more than twenty points in each of the first three quarters on the way to an 87-31 rout of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn January 27 at Hinton. With the loss to the Blackhawks, rated 13th in Class 2A, HMS fell to 0-8 in War Eagle Conference play and 1-15 on the season.
Scoring for the Hawks showed Kylee Schiphoff with eight points, Gracie Knobloch with seven, Emily Mutombo with four, Elise Haack and Frankie Mohni with three each and Abby Douma, Eliza Tewes and Lindsey Van Es with two apiece. Mutombo had the lone assist.
HMS was successful on just a quarter of its 32 shots. The visitors tried 10 three-pointers and made half of those. They went 10-for-21 from the free throw line. The Hawks collected 18 rebounds with Knobloch latching on to five and Haack and Douma each grabbing four. Mutombo came away with three steals and Douma blocked three shots.
