Hits and runs come early as Hawks defeat Gehlen Catholic

“The bats came alive last night and the girls tested them on the bases,” remarked HMS head coach Stephanie Bronstad. “Gracie (Knobloch) pitched a great game and the attitudes were great. Hoping we are on the upward slide going into the end of the season!”
Knobloch recorded a pair of singles and twice was intentionally walked. She scored a run in the first and knocked in two runs in the second. Abby Kunzman hit two doubles and scored two runs. Her second two-bagger drove in a run.
Run-scoring singles were delivered by Morgan Grooters with a bunt in the second and by Kinsey Schirmer in the third. Each scored a run. Abby Otto singled and scored in the first as did Kamryn Ebel in the second and Alexis Grover in the third. Delaney Murphy notched a base hit in the third. Frankie Mohni was on base three times and scored a run. HMS stranded nine runners and the Jays left six aboard.
