The Queen Shop is having a first anniversary sale September 4 through 8.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Chrisman, Sr. will observe their 60th wedding anniversary at a family dinner at the Legion Hall on Sunday, Sept. 2.
There was some wind damage with corn flattened in the area during last Wednesday’s rain storm…the town received nearly five inches of rain…because the water could not get away fast enough, the school intersection was flooded. The fire department was called to pump water away when it started to run into the basement of the library.

In a special meeting of the City Council Tuesday evening, Vern Norton was elected to fill the unexpired term of Mayor of Sanborn. Dick Sanders was elected to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Norton.

The deadline for contributing money to the Sanborn Community Building and having your name on one of the plaques is August 31.
Steve Litts, superintendent of HMS, was recently named one of three finalists for Iowa’s 1999 Superintendent of the Year award.
