Hawk boys race to runner-up position at HMS Invite
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s boys finished second as a team at their own HMS Cross Country Invite held September 18 at Sanborn Golf and Country Club. The Hawk boys earned a score of 45 to trail only Sioux Central and its 40 score. Hinton posted the low score for the girls with a 35. HMS was fourth with a score of 100.
George Vargas and Damian Dodge both claimed top 10 finishes. Vargas was sixth and Dodge 10th. Aiden Bush was right behind in 11th with Ryan Grotluschen placing 14th, Blaine Finster 18th and Easton Teal 26th.
Leading the effort for the Hawk girls were Alexis Croatt, with a 15th-place finish, and Gracie Knobloch, who came in 19th. Jocelyn Abonce finished 23rd, Kamryn Ebel 24th and Clara Funk 25th.
Carter Dolphin captured fourth place in the boys JV run. In that same race Moises Gonzalez placed ninth. The girls JV race included a 15th-place finish for Kamrynn Visser.
