The combines are making their annual tour of area fields as the soybean harvest is well underway. According to the USDA’s Iowa Crop and Condition Report released Monday, 93 percent of the soybean crop in northwest Iowa was dropping leaves. That same report showed 28 percent of the crop had been harvested in northwest Iowa, second only to the 30 percent having been harvested in the north central region of the state. Both topsoil and subsoil moisture in northwest Iowa rested predominantly in the adequate to short range.
