The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn bowling teams traveled to Hawarden December 12 and returned home with a pair of victories. The girls triumphed 2193 to 1779 and the boys won 2661 to 2087.
“We had a good night in Hawarden playing West Sioux!” exclaimed Hawk coach Julia Meyer. “We had two varsity wins!  The girls came away with a win in their match by 414 pins and with improved scores. So happy and proud of their commitment and progress. Also, we want to wish Meghan Larson good luck in her future, as she is graduating in December and will not be able to participate after that. We’ll miss her leadership. The Varsity boys also won with ease by 574 pins. They kept focus on getting their spares even when the strikes weren’t falling. ‘Spares are the name of the Game’ as they say. Also two of the JV teams scores were above the West Sioux varsity scores and the JV3 team was only 105 pins from beating the varsity too. The JV boys have upped their games also. We have a lot of talented bowlers! West Sioux was a good host but we were happy to get the wins!  This was the last meet in 2023 and our next meet will be January 16 in Sanborn at our HMS Triangular with Emmetsburg and West Sioux.  Thanks to all the families & supporters of our teams! Jordan Lux rolled the high game for HMS with a 171 but Heather Elgersma turned in the high two game series of 318. Lux bowled a 295 series, Larson a 292, Annika Overmire a 284, Lillian Van Loon a 270, Keyanna Brower a 260 and Lexi Croatt a 212. Baker game results for the girls were 166, 132, 133, 156 and 157 for a total of 744.
The boys high game and series was registered by Riley Russell with a 221 game and a 400 series. Caleb Aaron bowled a 374 series, followed by Jack Mastbergen with a 359, Dawson Niichel with a 339, Eli Mastbergen with a 332 and Damian Dodge with a 299. The boys rolled Baker game scores of 144, 177, 166, 224 and 146 for an 857 total.
