Hawk boys dealt home loss at the hands of Hinton


Hinton shot 55 percent and outrebounded Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 37-11 in picking up a 78-32 War Eagle Conference win over the Hawks January 26 at Hartley. The loss dropped HMS to 0-8 in the conference and 0-16 overall.
The Blackhawks were 32-of-58 from the floor, including 4-of-12 from behind the three-point line. The home team shot 29 percent with 12 hoops in 41 attempts. HMS was 7-of-22 from downtown and 1-of-2 at the foul line. Hinton sank 10 of 13 free throw tries.
The Hawks got 12 points from Jayden Leth, nine from Lawton Schiphoff, four from George Vargas, three from Kolby Douma and two from both Zac Pearson and Alex Billings. Leth was the assists leader with two. Vargas recorded four rebounds and three steals. Leth and Schiphoff each blocked a shot. HMS committed 17 turnovers and the Blackhawks 11.
