Sanborn Pioneer and Railroad Days Committee,
Another great year in Sanborn for Railroad Days with the Francis and Alvira Hickey family. Not as many could come this year but we want to congratulate the Railroad Days Committee and the town of Sanborn for putting on 4 Days of enjoyable, interesting and very hospitable celebration. I don’t remember the committee members’ names but they are to be commended and congratulated. And also a thank you to Scott Chrisman and others for their kind guidance and assistance and the great pictures of the events.
We didn’t see or attend everything but did enjoy the parade, Johnny’s museum, Jay’s Restaurant, Carnegie Library and Miller Park events, to name a few things we did.
Attendees this year were: Bernie Gainor, Phoenix, AZ, her sons Joe Gainor from South Carolina and Greg Gainor from Minneapolis; Barb Johnson from Overland Park, KS; Mike Hickey from Chicago (who graciously drove to Des Moines and drove Bernie, Barb and me to Sanborn!); Rick and Amparo Ramus from Des Moines and Kathy and Russ Anderson from Des Moines and Shirley McClain from Des Moines. Ray Huibregtse from Sanborn also joined us for some of the events.
We look forward to 2025. You always make us proud to call Sanborn our home!!
