Okoboji/HMS boys win twice at Sioux Center triangular

Okoboji/HMS picked up a pair of boys wrestling dual wins December 10 at Sioux Center. The Pioneers defeated the host Warriors 47-36 and rolled past Le Mars 63-12. Okoboji/HMS pushed its duals record to 3-1. In the third dual, Sioux Center topped the Bulldogs 49-27.
James Gellerman, an HMS senior, did his part with wins in both duals. He pinned Sioux Center’s Calvin Nice in 1:00 and scored a 14-3 major decision over Kreed Schroeder of Le Mars, both at 165 pounds.
Wrestling at 113 pounds, Nathan Stofferan won by fall over the Bulldogs’ Landen Olson in 1:09 but was pinned by Sioux Center’s Bryce Oostenink in 1:58. Another HMS grappler, Victor Rodriguez, wrestled at 157 pounds against Sioux Center and lost by fall to Landon Rozeboom in 1:55. Rodriguez also wrestled a JV match at 285 against Sioux Center’s Sawyer Wolfswinkel, losing by fall in 31 seconds.
Seven other HMS wrestlers were involved in JV matches. At 113 pounds, Dallas Greer pinned Joeshad Scott of Le Mars in 5:18. In a 120-pound match, Braxton Ball lost by fall to the Warriors’ Lucas Cuperus in 4:26. Austin Greer, wrestling at 132 pounds, won by fall over Sioux Center’s Andrew Ruiz in 1:40. Taylor Dykstra won a 138-pound match over the Warriors’ Kole Kempers in 1:40. At 144 pounds, Easton Teal won a 6-3 decision over the Bulldogs’ Angel Gonzalez. Emilio Martinez, a 150-pounder, won twice, pinning Sioux Center’s Johan Brink in 40 seconds and the Bulldogs’ Drew Regennitter in 3:25. Mykle Meyers lost by fall to the Warriors’ Benjamin RuizLira in 3:26 at 175 pounds.
