Pioneer boys place fourth at Forest City Invitational
Okoboji/HMS scored 119.5 points to finish fourth out of the 10 teams attending the Forest City Invitational held January 11. The Pioneers finished behind Algona (244.5 points), North Fayette Valley (232) and Clear Lake (155).
Nathan Stofferan was one of two Okoboji/HMS wrestlers to place second, joining Tyce Hanson. The HMS 113-pounder won by fall over Myles Henn of the host Indians in 41 seconds. He followed that up with a pin of Algona’s Thomas Zabka in 4:42. The 1st Place Match saw Stofferan lose by fall to Kaleb Feld of Garner-Hayfield/Ventura in 20 seconds.
Riley Mattingly, another HMS grappler, competed at 215 pounds but did not place. He lost his quarterfinal match by fall to Wes Hansen of Roland-Story in 25 seconds. His opponent in the second round of consolations was Brock Thompson of Clear Lake. Mattingly was pinned by the Lions wrestler in 2:41.
