Word was received of the death of Lanny Hustedt, age 71, of Galva, who passed away April 2 at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community of Storm Lake after battling aggressive stomach cancer since September 2023. A funeral service was held April 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Galva. Burial was at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery of Galva. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Camp Okoboji in memory of Lanny.
Hustedt was born on November 19, 1953 in Storm Lake to Alverne and Phyllis (Winterhof) Hustedt. After graduating from Galva High School and UNI, he went to work for the IRS in the Intelligence Division for two years. Hustedt then went on to begin his career in Elevator Management and Grain Merchandising. He worked at Sanborn Coop Grain, AGP in Eagle Grove and elevators in Remsen, and Pierson. Hustedt served on the Sanborn City Council, as president of the Sanborn Chamber of Commerce and as a director on the Sanborn Improvement Corporation board.
