Yesterday’s Memories hosts local Pinewood Derby

The boys and girls’ clubs from Cornerstone United Reformed Church and Sanborn Christian Reformed Church held the 2025 Pinewood Derby on April 2 at Yesterday’s Memories and Truck Museum. A total of 63 boys and girls from 4th through 8th grade took part in the evening’s races.
The evening began with a meal furnished by the Cornerstone Young People’s Society. They also served ice cream during the event, which had the theme Cops & Robbers.
After the cars were weighed for their check in the racing began. Racers competed for speed against cars from their age group: 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. The cars were also judged for best of show per class group. There was a Limited Class as well.
The software program that makes for easier setting up of the race cars allowed the large audience to view the race results on video screens. The race track was also filmed and projected to the large screen.
