HMS Middle School bowlers bring home hardware from State

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Middle School bowlers enjoyed particularly success at the 12th Annual Middle School State Bowling Championship held Saturday, April 26 at Bowlerama Lanes in Des Moines.
A four-member girls team finished first. Members of the team are Katelyn Bouma, Addison Embrey, Kaylee Neumann and Bailey Van Engen. They received a trophy and each team member was awarded a medal.
Embrey rolled a three-game series of 380, Bouma a 326, Van Engen a 318 and Neumann a 316 for a total of 1340. Waverly Shellrock was second with an 1138 total. The girls are coached by Jordan Lux.
A four-member boys team from HMS finished second with each member receiving a medal. The team members are Milet Cammann, Lincoln Giese, Gage Shaffer and Jacob Stamer. Shaffer bowled a 547 series, Giese a 434, Stamer a 388 and Cammann a 381 for a 1750 total. Totaling 2298 pins to finish first was a middle school team from West Delaware.
