Hawks return some experienced players for 2025 campaign

The 2025 Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn baseball team returns eight players who started at least 10 of last season’s 21 games. Seniors Jack Mastbergen and Blake Meendering started all 21 as did sophomore Grant Kunzman. The other five are senior Aiden Bush, freshman Hunter Daggett, sophomore Brody Meendering, junior Lawton Schiphoff and sophomore Talan Zearing.
The other players this season under the guidance of head coach Dawson Schiphoff and assistant James Mattingly are sophomores Mykle Meyers, Easton Teal, J.W. Van Der Merwe and Riley Wiersma and freshmen James Carlin, Caden Douma, Riley Mattingly and Anthony Olvera.
Blake Meendering totaled 16 hits last season. Mastberen, Schiphoff and Kunzman each had 12 hits.
Daggett drove in eight runs last year and Mastbergen six. Blake Meendering stole six bases
On the mound Mastbergen, Douma, Kunzman and Daggett all tossed more than 10 innings. Of those, Mastbergen had the lowest ERA (7.00) and struck out the most batters (40).
