The hits just keep coming as HMS beats Tigers
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn kept the hitting going with nine singles, two doubles and a home run to defeat Trinity Christian 11-6 July 2 at Hull. The win allowed HMS to finish 3-7 in War Eagle Conference play.
“The girls played another good game,” stated Hawk head coach Stephanie Bronstad. “The bats came alive and they hit pretty much the whole game. We had some errors that we wish we could avoid but they moved past them and kept playing til the end. Gracie (Knobloch) pitched another good game. This is the best time of the year to find our momentum!”
Igniting that momentum against the Tigers was Cammy Wilson. Her leadoff home run in the third inning broke the scoring ice and was the first of seven Hawk runs in the frame. Wilson went 4-for-4 in the game including a two-run single later in the third, a double and a run scored in the fifth and a single in the sixth.
Eliza Tewes contributed a two-run base hit in the third and a run scoring single in the fourth. Also getting two hits were Lexi Schmillen and Knobloch.
In notching the complete game victory, Knobloch recorded 10 K’s, walked only two and hit a batter. She was touched for eight hits and three earned runs. HMS had two errors.
