Strong MMCRU squad cruises past Hawk boys

One of the favorites in this year’s War Eagle Conference race showed why against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. MMCRU raced out to an early lead on the way to a 74-31 win December 6 at Hartley. The Royals improved to 2-0 while HMS slipped to 0-3. The game did not count in the conference standings.
MMCRU enjoyed 55 percent shooting with 33 hoops in 60 tries. The Royals were 5-of-13 from long distance and were not hurt by going 3-for-12 from the foul line. HMS was 10-of-33 from the field for 30 percent. The Hawks made three of 15 trey attempts and eight of 12 free throws.
Scoring for HMS showed Isaac Schierholz with 13 points, Caden Douma with seven, Jackson Vogt with six, Aiden Bush and Alex Billings with two apiece and Jayden Leth with one. Vogt assisted on three baskets.
Douma pulled own six rebounds while Vogt and Schierholz each grabbed four. Douma and Vogt each had a steal as MMCRU turned the ball over only seven times. The Hawks were guilty of 30 turnovers.
