Mr. and Mrs. John Getting observed their 68th wedding anniversary quietly at their home southwest of Sanborn April 22. Friends and relatives stopped by throughout the day.
Dennis Dagel rescued a mother robin Tuesday morning. The robin was presumably building her nest in a tree near the town shed with a piece of string which the bird had picked up, had a dart attached to the other end. The dart got caught in the tree and the robin was suspended with the string wound around her leg. She wasn’t a bit happy about being rescued.
The Sanborn Boy Scouts will be conducting their Annual Light Bulb sale this Friday. This is their fifth year of this fundraiser going door-to-door.

Office Specialist of the Week receiving the floral arrangement from The Sanborn Pioneer at the Secretary Week Luncheon was Deb Alons. Her employer, Verla Elgersma of Elgersma Agency, presented it at the luncheon held at Jay’s Restaurant Thursday.
An Autumn Blaze Maple tree was planted in the City Park on April. 25 by the Learning Tree Preschool and their teachers. Don Norton assisted with the project. This was in honor of National. Arbor Day observed the last Friday of April.
The Rite of Confirmation was held during the morning worship service Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Kenneth Funke officiating. Confirmed were Chad Odenbrett, Philip Storm, Chris Van Beek, Kim Lyman and Shane Elgersma.
