Hawk girls provide several highlights at Okoboji Relays
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn junior Jasmine Lux’s placing in four events was among the highlights for the Hawks at the Okoboji Relays April 26 in Milford.
Lux was the runner-up in the 400 meter dash (1:01.89), placed fifth in the 200 meter dash (27.57), was part of the sprint medley team that placed fourth (1:58.64), and was sixth as part of the 4×100-meter relay team (55.56).
The other members of the sprint medley were junior Anna VanderVeen, junior Lydia Harders and freshman Abigail Otto. The other members of the 4×100 team were Otto, Harders and junior Emily Otto. Freshman Lexi Croatt was fourth in the 3,000 meter run (13:01.39) in a tough field.
Coach Nicole Dorhout said that the sprint medley team and Lux’s performances have been consistently successful this year. “Jasmine is running really well right now,” Dorhout said. “She wants to qualify for state and has a fire in her eyes that is really fun to see. The sprint medley has been our most successful relay thus far as well.”
Dorhout also praised the work of Croatt. “Lexi’s had a great year and has been really mentally tough. I like what I’ve seen from her.”
The Hawks are preparing for the last stretch of the season, including the state-qualifying meet May 13 in Lawton.
