Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn hosted seven other girls track and field teams and finished in the top half of the team standing at the Hawk Relays conducted April 25 at Hartley. HMS compiled 60 team points. Akron-Westfield scored 126 points to finish first, edging out Okoboji and their total of 119 points.
The Hawks saved the best for (nearly) last, winning the 4×100 relay courtesy of Payton Diehm, Keely Ebel, Kamryn Ebel and Pamela Mutombo. The same group finished second in the 4×200.
Kate Gellerman was runner-up in the long jump. Keely Ebel finished second in the 200 meters and third in the 100 meters. Also placing third was the shuttle hurdle relay team of Trinity Tovar, Thalia Rodriguez, Jamie Diaz and Jenna Hengeveld.
