Chatwell Bakery announced today that they will be closed next week in order to move to their new home.
Mrs. Earl Mayne celebrated her 80th birthday May 1. Her son, Congressman and Mrs. Wiley Mayne came to help observe the event. Among her greetings was a happy birthday greeting from President Nixon.

At the regular meeting of the American Legion, Bob Ellett was voted to attend Boys State this year.
Dr. and Mrs. M.J. Shanahan attended the State Dental meeting at Des Moines last week.
Rev. and Mrs. Herbert Daib returned last week after spending the winter with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. Wangersheim at Las Vegas.

Spotty hail accompanied the rain through this area Thursday night. In the Melvin area the hail was so thick that fields were all white and a snowplow was used to clear Highway 59….residents reported still hail the next morning.
