High speed pursuit in Milford leads to charges against Sanborn man
The Milford Police Department has released on social media the details of a high speed pursuit in their city July 23 which resulted in charges filed against a Sanborn man.
The incident began shortly after 1:00 a.m. that morning. According to the report, a deputy on patrol pulled over a vehicle in the 800 block of Okoboji Avenue in Milford for an equipment violation. The vehicle reportedly took off soon after, leading officers on a pursuit through multiple city streets with speeds reaching 80 mph at times. The vehicle then reportedly struck a playground slide at St. Joseph Catholic Church. With the vehicle disabled, the driver allegedly got out and took off on foot. The suspect, Brady Griffin of Sanborn, was apprehended in the 1000 block of 15th Street.
The report indicated that Police obtained and executed a search warrant on the vehicle after the Spirit Lake Police Department’s K-9 unit responded to the scene and alerted on the vehicle. The search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding what appeared to be methamphetamine, according to the report.
Griffin was arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail on charges of eluding, possession of a controlled substance…1st offense…methamphetamine, interference with official acts, nine counts of failure to obey a traffic control device, driving while suspended, two counts of reckless driving, and failure to maintain control.
The Milford Police Department was assisted by the Dickinson County Communications Center, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Spirit Lake, Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments.
