Lance Berends scored his 1000th point as a Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn varsity basketball player during the Hawks’ game with Hinton on January 28. He joins Jon Walburg (1584 points), Blake Simons (1510), Josh Ahrenstorff (1195) and Tyler Mohr (1056) in the HMS 1000 Point Club. On January 31 before the Hawks’ home game with MMCRU, Berends was presented with a commemorative basketball noting the achievement. The junior is pictured with his HMS basketball teammates.
