Depleted Hawk girls team competes at Okoboji Relays
The one day postponement of the Okoboji Relays to April 26 resulted in a different look to the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls contingent. The date caused a conflict with an HMS concert leaving a number of team members back at Hartley, rather than at Spirit Lake, site of this year’s relays.
There were still Hawk competitors in nine events and the team totaled 18 points. Sioux Center was the team champ with a 165 total.
The evening was a busy one for Emily Mutombo who placed third in the 100 meters, fourth in the high jump, and fifth in both the 200 and 400 meter dashes. Alexis Grover finished fifth in the shot put. HMS sent one relay to the track. The 4×200 of Madyson Torres, Kelly Buhrmann, Luna Buchler Alonso and Frankie Mohni placed fifth.
