HMS boys participate in limited numbers at Okoboji Relays
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn brought a limited boys squad to Okoboji Relays which were delayed one day to April 26 due to the weather. The new date conflicted with the HMS concert. The site also had been switched to Spirit Lake.
The Hawks placed seventh with 29 points. Spirit Lake’s 175.5 point gave them the team title.
Connor Dodd placed third in the 200 meters and fourth in the 100. Adam Schierholz finished third in the discus and fifth in the shot put. Keevyn Jacobsma was sixth in both of the throwing events. The 800 meter run saw Aiden Espeland take fifth. In the hurdles, Ethan Wiersma placed fifth in the 110 highs and Bradley Zamudio sixth in the 400 lows.
HMS also had fifth-place finishes in a pair of relays. Those were the 4×400 of Espeland, Wiersma, George Vargas, and Alan Abonce and the 4×800 of Justyn Vasquez-Alcantara, Aiden Jensen, Abonce, and Gavin Faulkner.
