Hawks shine in all areas, beat Harris-Lake Park
Harris-Lake Park outscored Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 4-1 in the first inning of their softball game June 22 at Lake Park. From that point forward it was HMS 16 and the Wolves one. It all added up to a 17-5 HMS win in five innings.
“The girls continued to play well last night,” complemented Hawk head coach Stephanie Bronstad. “Defense, pitching and hitting all came together. I was very happy with the game and am hoping the momentum continues for the week.”
Gracie Knobloch yielded only five hits, struck out seven batters, hit one and walked none. She was supported by a defense that committed but one error. All five HLP runs were earned.
Meanwhile, the Hawk batters enjoyed a 16-hit night. Abby Otto was 4-for-5 with three RBI’s and three runs scored. Eliza Tewes went 3-for-4 including an RBI double. She also reached on an error and scored three runs, with pinch runner Lindsey Van Es scoring the other.
Knobloch recorded a single, a two-run double and two runs scored. Kinsey Schirmer had a pair of RBI singles and scored a run. Abby Kunzman, singled, walked, reached on an error and scored twice. For Cadence Klein it was an RBI single and a run scored after reaching on an error.
Bailey VerHelst and Alexis Grover each contributed a run-scoring single. Grover also walked and scored two runs. Frankie Mohni walked and scored to go along with a single. Addison Sheeler walked as well and came around to score.
