Berends is top rebounder

Lance Berends recently became Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s career rebounding leader. On Friday, January 27 in the Hawks’ game at Hinton, Berends passed Blake Simons for the top spot. Simons had held the record of 906 rebounds. As of February 6, Berends had reached 958 rebounds and counting. Prior to the Hawks’ game with Trinity Christian on Friday, February 3, the new leader was presented with a commemorative basketball by HMS head coach Naet Hoaglund. Also, as of February 6, Berends was just 27 points away from the HMS career scoring mark of 1584 points held by Jon Walburg.
