O’Brien County Farm Bureau Honored for Excellence
The O’Brien County Farm Bureau has been designated a 2020 Outstanding County Farm Bureau by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF).
This award is given to Farm Bureaus that participate in year-round activities focused on sharing the story of today’s agriculture, communicating with elected officials to highlight the importance of rural issues and supporting local communities in times of need.
“Despite a challenging year, county Farm Bureaus statewide have continued to demonstrate leadership and a commitment to Iowa Farm Bureau’s mission of creating a vibrant future for agriculture, farm families and their communities,” said Craig Hill, IFBF president.
“As the ‘Voice of Agriculture’ in Iowa and in O’Brien County for over 100 years, we democratically represent rural county residents here in our county and in the state. I am also proud of how we benefit others through food drives, “Adopt a Senior”, scholarships to high school seniors, support for the county fair in many ways, spearheading the efforts to get grain tubes to every fire department in the county, etc. We continue two-way communication with our elected and appointed county officials and with our elected state representatives. Joining Farm Bureau nearly 48 years ago when I started farming was one of the first things I did and I am proud of what the county and the state have accomplished and proud of what I have contributed to the cause over the years.”‘ said Dudley McDowell, O’Brien County Farm Bureau Board Member.
The O’Brien County Farm Bureau works for O’Brien County farm families, but that work reaches well beyond the farm – benefiting Iowans in all walks of life. The O’Brien County Farm Bureau currently has 1,160 members. If you want to learn more about the O’Brien County Farm Bureau contact the office in Primghar at 712-957-2535.
