Reigning over Homecoming festivities for SHS were King Jeff Dasen and Queen Darla Vos.
Ray Vander Naald, Jr. and his father, Ray, Sr. brought in a king size potato grown in his garden. It weighed two pounds, 13 ounces.

Several trees and large limbs were twisted off or blown down in the heavy winds Tuesday night at the Geo. Dolphin place northwest of Sanborn. There was also damage to a granary.
Mrs. Mitch Seivert has been hired for the full time clerical position in the city office in the municipal building.

A grave marker with the inscription Vany Urbanas 1888-1921 was found during excavation at 112 Carroll Street in Sanborn…There was no evidence that anyone had been buried there.
A 107 pound squash grown by Wm. Haht is on display at Prairie View.

Lightning struck in the area of the city shed and knocked down some wires Sunday afternoon. The thunderstorm brought heavy rain and strong winds.
The Community Building had a new exterior finish, a dry-wet system, that was recently completed.
Sanborn Funeral Home recently completed exterior remodeling with a new pitched roof and the addition of a canopy at the south entrance.

Fire Truck rides for the kids last Thursday was a part of the observance of the Fire Prevention Week in Sanborn.
Jamie Buteyn graduated last Friday from an eight-week course at the police academy in Pierre, SD.

HMS students selected for Honor Band are Jacob Elgersma, David Coulter, Jill Dykstra, Karl Luenberger, Caleb Funke, Kent Wallinga and Cassie Miller.
City employees with 20 years or more service were honored at a recognition banquet October 13 by the City. They were Randy Lyman, Ed Visser, Nancy Venenga, Jeff Kuehl, Don Kroese, Allen Bonderman, Jim Cravens and Gary Grapevine.
