Hawk golf girls lose by one stroke to RSM
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls golfers just missed collecting a third War Eagle Conference dual victory of the season. The Hawks lost by one stroke, 230-231, to Remsen St. Mary’s in the final dual meet of the season, played May 6 at Remsen Golf Course.
As a consolation, HMS pocketed the top two medals. Gracie Knobloch fired the low round of 50 to earn medalist honors. Kinsey Schirmer was runner-up after shooting 52. Ava Dolphin carded a 63 to place eighth and Kinley Sampson was 10 with a 66.
Both Knobloch and Schirmer earned 1st Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year. Knobloch accumulated the highest amount of points in conference and Kinsey finished tied for fourth. Points are gained from each individual conference meet along with the conference tournament. The first 10 are designated 1st Team and the second 10 2nd Team. “These ladies have worked hard all year and what an honor to have each of them repeat as 1st Team All Conference players,” remarked HMS girls golf coach Cheryl Kroese. “These ladies just continue to amaze me with their consistency in their game. Their hard work has definitely paid off!”
